Anna Grazinsky is a countess from background but she is forced to take up another job like the rest of her family as they have become penniless during the Russian revolution. She ends up as a maid in the house of Westerholme aristocrats. When the earl , Rupert Westeholme returns from war, he is caught by Anna's gracefulness. However he is engaged to marry Muriel Hardwick who nursed him in hospital during the war. As the story gradually moves forward, Rupert keeps losing interest in Muriel who's only motive was to become an aristocrat. Muriel is mean towards Ollie and always listens to whatever Dr.Lightbody says. Till the time Rupert knows the reality about Anna, his and Muriel's wedding date have come too close. When it is time for the wedding Dr.Lightbody interrupts everything saying that Rupert is not a true aristocrat. The story ends happily with Rupert and Anna's wedding.
