A troublesome twelve-year-old orphan, staying with an elderly artist who needs her, remembers the only other time she was happy in a foster home, with a family that truly seemed to care about her.

Hollis Woods is a 12 year old girl and an artist, she got her name from where she was abandoned the place Hollis Woods. Hollis is a mountain of trouble, she has been to so many foster homes she cant remember them all. Hollis gets offered to live with a family called the Regans. but then she does something bad and she thinks its her fault so she runs away to a lady called Josie she is also an artist. the social service finds her so Hollis and Josie run to the Regans batch house.
