Told in two perspectives, this book gives the reader a unique look at the story of immigration - it certainly not all black and white. Tyler is scared when his family hires "illegal aliens" to help out on the dairy after his father's accident. He feels this is something his very patriotic grandfather would never condone. Mari is the daughter of one of the workers. She has some very real fears of her own - will her mother ever return to them or will they be caught and sent back to Mexico? These two come to understand each other as they face unexpected difficulties together.
