excellent writing, very disturbing, especially with the state of affairs now with NK threatening nuclear attack on US.

This book is incredible. I cannot describe how detailed the visual imagery is. This book provides a insightful description into the lives of citizens; poverty in all it's forms, etc. When my parents first got me the book for my birthday I assumed it was another boring read, but when I actually sat down to read it, I didn't stand up until a few hours later, when I finished the book from cover to end. A truly amazing read.

This is a chilling, scary look into the repressive regime in North Korea -- how these people have lived at all is miraculous. Well -- 200,000 or so didn't live, but to live to tell the story is just unbelievable.
