Summary

A young girl deals with the painful and unexpected death of her father by going out for the boys baseball team.

  • Molly: Main character. Dealing with the recent death of her father through their shared love of baseball.
  • Molly's mom: Dealing with her own grief over the loss of her husband. Molly's mother has become withdrawn and confused over her inability to communicate with her daughter.
  • Celia: Molly's best friend.
  • Lonnie: An artistic boy who isn't afraid to befriend Molly on the baseball field and who ends up becoming her "personal catcher" and friend.
