“Riveting first novel set in Africa during extreme political unrest. The challenges faced by medical professionals and the social and medical implications of practices that profoundly shape women's lives are explored. Also, great familial issues faced by the protagonist and his twin. Excellent read.”

ShivaMarion grew up with misunderstanding, but loved their hospital and parents who raised them. They both became doctors, and productive people. I don't feel like I've done justice in these few sentences, but highly recommend the book. It was one of the most interesting! ”

I really don't need to know how to do a vasectomy. Stong language in parts.
The things we do or do not do affect our destiny.”
“Amazing book, it took a while to get into it the author is verbose when it comes to details but they are important to pay attention to for the rest of the book. But once it grabs you it takes you away. ”

How sad is the work showing how humans just mess up, terribly. It has a lot of medical jargon but one can still understand what is happening. I often wondered how twins grew up; this book gives one a great insight into that process. It is set in relatively modern Ethiopia for the most part and one gets a feel for so many cultures in different countries. ”
