I actually liked this book way more than the second book. I agree with some of the other reviews about how the ending came together too quickly, but I prefer that over a long dragged out ending. Durzo was definitely my favorite character and I'm glad that Weeks brought him back for the last book.

A fitting end, to a classic fantasy trilogy, which kept getting bigger in scope, as it went. In the finale, the Night Angel, helps save the world from evil, sacrificing his one true love, in the process. This series was a fast-paced, roller coaster ride, with so many twists & turns, that it kept you guessing, pretty much all the way through. It was an excellent read, and I HIGHLY recommend it.

I've run out of superlatives to describe how much I enjoyed reading this debut trilogy by Brent Weeks. He has taken his place alongside Robin Hobb, Patrick Rothfuss, and Joe Abercrombie. WOW, I loved this series!

Beyond the Shadows by Brent Weeks is the third addition to his Night Angel Trilogy. While still a very good book, it is not as good as the first two of the trilogy. In Beyond the Shadows, Kylar is caught in the middle of three wars that are about to come together into one large war. His friend, Logan, is the king of Cenaria and is leading his army against an enemy who has obtained the most powerful sword alive and raised a goddess from the earth. Kylar must face an actual goddess and defeat her in order to save his country. Beyond the Shadows is an interesting book. It is not as action packed as the first two, but it is still very entertaining.
