“Man! This book got me going, I thought that I was at every battle seen! It was so fun...until the end. grrr! it made me so mad! I wish I had truely been there to stop the worst thing from happening!
“Like many other second books in a series, Burning Bridge didn't quite live up to it's predecessor. This time the kingdom is facing a real war with Morgarath. Will and Horace find themselves with information about Morgarath's battle plans. They use spy and battle skills in an effort to defeat the evil lord. Still great world building with adventure and good character development, but The Burning Bridge is just so predictable.
John Flanagan showed his exceptional writing ability in Ruins of Gorlan so I'm not sure why he chooses to tell, rather than show so many things. Take the title for instance. When they come upon Morgarath's evil bridge what are they going to do? Burn it! No mystery there - it's in the title! There are a few other places where big reveals would have been better if Flanagan hadn't been so blatantly obvious with the clues.
As with lots of series, I hear the third book is better.”

“This book was a fantasy book and was really good. It is also a chapter book and really good. There are no illistrationes in this book or the rest of the series. It would help if there was pictures. I really like this book along with all the other books in the series. When the part went to Horace if felt like I was in him. This book is about Morganath (bad guy)and the plans he has to take over the kingdom, what the good guys do to stop him and all the other things that happen along the way. My favorite part is when they burn the bridge. The main characters were Will, Halt, Horace and Evanlyn. Will is the main ranger apprentice and the whole story is kinda about him. Halt is Will's teacher and is very smart and is good at what he does. Horace was Will's old ward mate and Will's bully, but then they become best friends. Evanlyn is a Pearson who helps destroy the bridge with Will and Horace. I think that people who like a lot of action in a little book and like twisted seines would like this book.”Benjamin Katona wrote this review Wednesday, March 13, 2013.
