Not my favorite book in the series, but still enjoyable. It felt very short compared to the other books in the series.

My favorite detective wizard is back in action. Harry Dresden is one of my all time favorite characters. He has moxie even when he is getting the crap kicked out of him. The best supernatural fantasy series. Period!

I now remember why I fell in love with the Dresden Files in the first place! I've only just begun, but it's a wonderful book so far. Slipping back into Harry's narrative style has been like slipping back into a comfortable pair of sturdy boots.

Butcher avoids the erros of Small Favor by keeping to one priamry story line, while keeping the recurring side stories and recurring plot threads from other installments in the series in their proper place. We don't get as much character work on Harry as we did in Small Favor, but we do get some character growth for Molly, Morgan and Thomas.

He just keeps going and the good stories keep coming. As usual, the twists keep you guessing, even when you think you know how it will end. The black council is starting to show it's hand, Harry is risking his life to try and prove Morgan's innocence, his brother has been kidnapped by the nastiest being Harry's ever come into contact with... Sometimes you can't win 'em all.

Dresden tries to help Warden Morgan prove his innocence. Butcher mixes politics, magic, murder & mayhem to great effect.
