This book should be required reading for every American citizen. Mayer documents how G. W. Bush let himself be carried away by the zealotry of a handful of neo-conservatives on his staff leading to the creation of "invisible" CIA detention centers, a misguided and morally wrong approach to interrogation that infiltrated the military at Abu Ghraib, and a willful denial of the federal balance of powers. The only bright spot in the whole sordid mess is the few men and women within the system who...
