I just read a fellow Shelfarian's review of this that said the book didn't hold her interest. This makes me question if this woman has a heart. Michael J. Fox explores four areas of his life--work, politics, faith, & family--where optimism plays a major role. His discussion on faith and family...

A lot of this book was about politics and stem cell research-pretty dry reading. But you still have to admire the guy.

Always Looking Up The Adventures of an Incurable Optimist Michael J. Fox

    5 stars

Michael J. Fox follows up "Lucky Man" with this amazing book about how he decided to give up acting and how he wasn't sure what to do afterwards, but how he decided to start his foundation. He also gives us an insight into his marriage to Tracy and how she has been amazing helping him with Parkinsons. And he also gives us a look at his 4 children, and what an amazing man and how much strength he has.

Michael J. Fox has written an insightful, uplifting memoir. His battle with Parkinson's Disease, although not easy, leaves readers with hope. Humor, heartwarming stories about his children, and interesting encounters with supportive acquaintances and famous friends makes this a wonderful and endearing read. A rather lengthy section covers politics and its role in stem cell research - very detailed and long - an important chapter, but rather drawn out. Although it is not the main point of the book - it is the emphasis. Without political backing, stem cell research will continue to be vetoed by our government, and as Michael points out, many people's lives are at stake.

Couldn't get into this - Fox's situation and his attitude towards it is inspiring and some anecdotes interesting but overall, bit slow.
