I hope we have not seen the last of the "High Risk" novels and Phoenix Team in particular. ”

Dr Kirby (OK - I'm from Minnesota, home of Kirby Puckett and the MN Twins, 2 World Series, and this name for a female was distracting for me) saved pilot Shane Garrett's life when his Black Hawk crashed in Afghanistan. Shane lost a leg, and now post rehab is a member of the Phoenix Team.
Rachel, a doctor friend & co-worker of Kirby's has been taken hostage in Central America, so the team goes to get her out. Interesting past for the hostage doc, and the man Michael she loved years ago. Rachel was married at the time, and when he found this out, Michael went in to the seminary, has now left, and is on the team to rescue her. Seems like these Phoenix guys always get their girl in the end, since Rachel is now divorced and of course Michael throws her over his shoulder & carries her to the copter when all is said and done.
The parts about Shane's amuptation and recovery are interesting, and well written in to the story. Since this happens a lot in war, we don't get a real enough picture in every day life on how this affects the men once they are stateside & in rehab. I thought Ross did a very realistic job on this, although of course Shane bounces back with little or none PTSA, and has 3 artificial limbs he is trying out for various functions. Maybe not so true in the real world, but makes this story interesting.
Everyone gets their HEA, after coming close to loss of life and limb in the rescue op. Dr. Kirby was not my fave heroine of the bunch so far, but was glad for a brief glimpse at the rest of the Phoenix team and their wives. ”
