Tom Wolfe is always fun to read. His New Journalism is bright and vivid. It is only a shame that he has only so many "big books" - A Man in Full, Bonfire of the Vanities, I am Charlotte Simmons (critics LOVE to slam that one) and the Right Stuff. He isn't getting any younger. My own, quite...

I loved the entire story, but I was very disappointed with the ending. I think he fell just short of pulling off a great book.

Wolfe at his best. You kind of have to trudge through its meandering but in the end, it's worth it.

Outstanding look at what happens when one gets over extended. Fun read for every person making a living in real estate.

A fictional tale of Atlanta. A large amount of source material comes from the Peachtree and Auburn history book also on my shelf.

Refreshing to read more Wolfe, as Bonfire is one of my all time favorites. Although many of the detailed passages seem to stretch on at times, this is new journalism at its finest. My favorite part of the book was the Stoic philosophy blended into the story line of the main character(s).

This was a wonderful, sly, smart book. May merit a re-read.

With only a fourth of the book to go, I honestly couldn't have told you what the book was about. Not sure I even could now. It's so many stories brilliantly intertwined. I didn't feel lost, but rather like Tom Wolfe juggled each story beautifully. Taking place in Atlanta, you learn quite a bit about the city, the people and its history. There is also a great deal of racial and political statements, although I couldn't really say which stands Tom Wolfe takes. But it's one of my favorites!
