“This is one of these awful modern books. Not one of the numerous characters this book introduces you to is worth a damn. They are all awful. Then awful things happen to them and the do awful things and then the book just ends. Frightfully long, but morbidly interesting. Having a book full of villains allows the reader the strange pleasure of enjoying every bad turn each character takes. I weirdly liked it whenever anyone suffered in this book. Still, I can't say that I liked it that much.”
