This book made me want to smack Sandy and Norman the main characters. His thinking was caveman like and she was the original Edith Bunker. The story did take place in the late 60's and early 70's so I had to allow for that kind of backwards thinking. I got wrapped up in this book pretty quickly...

This was a very humorous book. I read this when i was 16 and have to say that I don't ever want to get 'bored'... Judy Blume is always a good read.

Interesting to see the expectations of marriage 50 years ago...

WOW! This is the first "adult" Judy Blume book I read and it blew me away. I couldn't put it down, it was fast to read, interesting and not what I expected at all from our beloved Judy Blume! Can't wait to read her other books.

It's been a while since I have read this book but I remember liking it regardless of the fact that at times the story was very upsetting.

It's been awhile since I read this last. I really enjoyed it. I was in HS the first time. And I thought WOW this is naughty. lent it to all of my friends. Now that I am older I want to reread it because I think I will see different aspects in the story that I didnt before.

Definitely a suggested read and not just because of the sex scenes.

THIS is the penultimate Summer sizzler.

I first read this at age 11. I've reread it three or four times since then. It was one of my Mother's "Forbidden" books. Remember the 1978 tagline: "Hide it where the children can't see it". Yeah right. I remember my mother used to hide all her "adult" books underneath her mattress....which, of course, was the first place I ran to ! I remember taking a highlighter to all the good parts.

By the way: this latest edition was not the original book jacket. I remember the 1978 book jacket with the stripes....and then of course, the paperback cover with the pornographic picture of a woman's bare chest....

Anyway....this story will not disappoint. Sandy Pressman has all kinds of escapades and encounters (SPOILERS) ----Her brother-in-law is a GYNOCOLOGIST !!! Yes, Judy Blume does go there, plus a lot further than that.

I love how Norman Pressman was a Republican who washes his hands before and after.... The absolute funniest part of this book is the Jewish mother-in-law who's uncomfortable around Blacks and calls them "Ductlas"......which is Yiddish for.....nevermind......

One of the most politically INcorrect books ever written. I doubt Judy Blume, or anyone else, would ever get away with anything close to it today. And, in fact, her other two "Adult" books were nothing compared to Wifey. I've read both Smart Women and Summer Sisters. And, neither can touch the glorious-ness that is Wifey. Did that word even exist before this book came out ?
