Logan finds a picture while he is at war. He decides that he is going to find the girl in the picture. He finds her but decides to keep it quiet about who he is and why he is looking for her because he doesn't fully understand it himself and doesn't think she will understand either. But as the two spend more and more time together they start to form a bond that helps him decide that finding her was the right idea after all.

  • Logan Thibault: Logan Thibault is a man that was in the United States Marine Corps. When he is deployed hie finds a picture of a young women, who essentially saves his life, on the ground. On the back it says "Be Safe E" Once Logan finds this he posts in on a wall for someone to claim. After it being there for weeks Logan decides to take it with him, everyday. The day Logan takes it again he is in a road side bombing, which he miraculously survives. After his final tour he looks for this women, when he finds her there is not only happiness, sadness, love, hurt, mystery and betrayal. But through this, love conquers all.
  • Zeus: Logan's German Shepherd. He trained him throughout the "walk".
  • Keith Clayton: Elizabeth's ex- husband, and Ben's father. A deputy sheriff in Hampton, his family is said to "run the town," in this instance he controls Elizabeth's life because he holds this over her head. He has anger problems, and drinking problems as well. He is an okay father to is son, he only takes Ben because he has to on the weekends.
  • Beth Green, aka, Elizabeth: The Mother of Ben, and a divorced wife of Keith. She worked as a second grade school teacher at Ben's school but quit after the death of her brother. She lives with her Nana, and her son Ben.
  • Ben: Elizabeth and Keith Clayton's 10 year old son. Non-athletic, violin playing, chess wiz he doesn't get along with his father very well.
  • Nana: Beth's grandmother, runs Sunshine Kennels and is a renowned dog trainer. She is recovering from a recent stroke, she is very accepting of Logan because he reminds her of her grandson that died in Iraq. She is the person who let's Logan work at the kennels because Beth is not happy with a stranger walking in and applying. Nana is very welcoming, and a very accepting women. (Beth's grandmother)
  • Victor: Logan's best friend in the Marines.
  • Tony Stevens: Sleazy friend and informer for Deputy Sheriff Keith Clayton
  • Melody: Friend of Beth's with a son Ben's age
  • Drake Green: Beth's younger brother, who was her best-friend when they were kids growing up. Is killed during his first and only tour in Iraq.
