Didn’t Like It“I'm torn on how I feel about this one. The Borgias certainly make quite an interesting story, but I felt that Cesare came across as more internally inconsistent than anything else. There were also bits of dialogue which felt rather out of place in time that broke my immersion. None of the...” see full review » see other reviews » |

But a concoction of both is even more poisonous. I never knew what made me read this book in the first place. It is the last compiled book from Mario Puzo. The book takes us to the Italy of the Renaissance, where he tries to convince us that it is no different from the little Italy of the Mafia world. A view that I would have never imagined. Such is the imagination of a great story teller of our time.”

And I guess his idea was, if you want to know what things were like, you can look it up. There is so little description that it's hard for any of the novel to come alive. The settings and characters have flat motivations, and when bad things happe, it's hard to care. The historical aspect is super interesting. I wish more people knew about this part of Catholic and European history.”
