really enjoyed PERLAS EN EL ÁTICO. Each story has its solid theme, plot, exotic scenery, emotion, and a touch of history, making this an interesting book to read. It is obvious that Rafa Martin is gifted with words, thus, there lies the strength of his work. Every word he used added depth to his characters, descriptions and emotions. Combined with his careful and thorough research, each story transcends into a particular time, allowing readers to experience a particular place, feel every emotion, all in one. In spite of the tragic thing Rafa was able to interject humor in his writing.

My favorite is "En Línea Recta'', inspired by the song `Under the Bridge' a song by Hot Chili Peppers, resulting in dramatic, stimulating as well as entertaining story. Here, Rafa used an original monologue in slang, the point of view of a junkie who mixes Spanish and "charnego".

I got a real feel of Buenos Aires, Barcelona, Sarajevo and Manila. I can't wait for this book to be translated in English.
