Yes | No“Having read some of Mildred Taylor's other books, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, The Friendship, and The Gold Cadillac, I was prepared to learn more about her family's story through this book. I loved this book because it chronicled in a fictional way the way African Americans were treated during part of our history and the bravery and self-restraint that was so often required just to survive. ”
