There is another wonderful little book on his paintings, that fits into the purse or makes a great gift, but this book is for the serious fan. Not only gives infor on this artist but the art world and it's time as well, a great art lesson.......... "Dickens had argued that 'in an utilitarian age, of all other times, it is a matter of grave importance that fairy tales should be repected.' Waterhouse clearly shared the Romantic's fascination with supernatural characters and experiences because they pointed to the spirit of that which cannot be seen: to abstract ideas dismissed by modern science and positivism." ........ I use this as a table book in my livingroom, and it makes a great onversation starter, someone always picks it up and makes a comment, which gives me a chance to show-off my master room which is centered around J W Waterhouse prints. Would you believe it was my husband's choice of three artists, Hylas and the Nymphs, that started the decor!”
