Prelutsky is great spooky fun here, scarier than you'd think. In my middle school this book wouldn't stay on the shelf.

I love these creepy poems. They set the tone of Halloween very well. I have found, however, over time, my students struggle more and more with the language Prelutsky uses. While geared for sixth grade, my fourth graders used to be able to enjoy these. Unfortunately, I read them less and less each year as they do not understand the words.
