I saw Brad Meltzer give a speech as part of The Big Read in Irving, TX. I had no idea who he was, I just went to participate in the activity. I enjoyed his speech so much, and he did a bang-up job of selling me on his book. I bought it, and got it signed. A few days later, someone at work mentioned the book and gave it a glowing recommendation.

I found it to be okay. Not the best, not the worst. A little derivative of The Da Vinci Code (he even references it at one point, so I think he knows he was being derivative.) I still love the concept of the novel, and Meltzer's veracity of detail is impressive. I just don't like mysteries all that much, and I don't like best-sellers all that much. It was a fun read, and I don't wish for the time back, but I doubt I will read anything else by him.

I enjoy reading...I have a passion for reading....so with that being said I always feel a bit of regret when I have to give a review that is not a good one. I actually believe that all books are interesting..some hold my interest and others dont..this one unfortunatly did not...it went on and on from one unrealistic idea to the next...so many DaVinci want to be's...

LC Book Club - Dianne Swank picked. I enjoyed this book very much. Fast paced from the beginning with a lot of twists and turns. This is a novel but it is based on some factual events. I would definitely recommend.

My first Brad Meltzer. I was intrigued by the premise but frankly it was mediocre at best.

Didn't like the characters, didn't like the plot, didn't like the conspiracy theory. BORING.

Great dialogue-based writing. The story is fun – a little too far-fetched at times – and the characters are intriguing. Highly recommended for an exciting, quick read.

I didn't think Brad Meltzer could top my favorite novel of his, "The Zero Game". Brad Meltzer did. The Book of Lies kept me attached to the story, the plot, trying to figure out who is who, and the characters became real to me. I still think I will meet Cal on the street.
You will be hooked on the story from the beginning. Who is Ellis? What is Thule? Don't forget the Jewish hating Russians and Nazis. Figure out who is the Prophet. On your seat and trying to figure out the plot right to the end.
The Finish is EXCELLENT. It is the best ending any author could achieve. The treasure is treasure, but not what you believe it to be. It is the greatest prize and the greatest power on earth, but I doubt anyone could guess it. Way to go, Brad. You beat my favorite Zero Game down to second place. The Book of Lies is now my favorite Brad Meltzer novel.
If I could give this a six star instead of the limit five star, I would.

If I could give this negative stars, I would. Confusing, silly plot that jumps all over. Poorly written dialog. I couldn't even finish.

Really good story but I thought it kind of ran out of steam at the end. I think he should have ended the book a chapter or two sooner.
