• Added a character: Mr. Corcoran: In the book the writer tells us that his father wrote to Dr. John Corcoran of the Mater Hospital about the health status of his mother. The letter is dated 10th April 1943. When I came to Dublin it happened that I got accommodation near where the Corcoran family lived. (Ranelagh, Dublin) I got to know some of the family. It was a lovely surprise to find that the John McGahern's Memoir was so close to me!
