“Quite the page-turner, this book tells the story of a retired 1970s rock musician who suddenly finds himself in turn of the century Vienna where he falls in with the group of artists, writers and architects known as Jung Wien and the Secessionists. As he tries to find the reason for his sudden dislocation in time and place, he falls in love with his grandmother and meets the war hero father he never knew. Quite how it compares to other books in the genre I'm not sure, as I don't think I've read any other similarly themed novels apart from 'Kruistocht in een spijkerbroek', and that's a children's book from way back when, but I thought it was well-wrought, well-written, and well-researched.”
