I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Terrific plot though the writing was not up to the task. The main character was predictable and a bit one dimensional. Still I was captivated by the story. It stayed in my mind throughout the day. I also liked the embroidery connection and that it has some actual history. Great that the author was inspired by the kidnapping of an ancestor by Barbary pirates. Good reading!

Two different cultures in two different centuries was an interesting setting for the two connected stories. Much of the plot was a little too predictable but it was entertaining.

The "current day" stuff gets old, but well worth it for the Cat story line. Makes you wonder why pirates are glorified so...just enough details to make your skin crawl, but not too much to where you have to skip sections or put the book down. Definitely worth a read!
