How perverted and dysfunctional were those Victorians!? Despite her college education, Ada allows herself to become a suppressed woman, subject only to her husband's dictates, confined to her home, and subject to some really BIZARRE sexual 'theories'. Ew. When she finally escapes, she is never smart enough to stick with the plan!
