A walloping, raucous and gritty novel that follows a disparaged set of ungainly brothers whose cavernous love for each other keep the reader rooting for the seemingly debauched daring-dos who live their lives on a razor edge between life and death, love and hate, fear and respect, along a self-drawn line of morality and righteousness. Based on true historical characters, Bondurant cleverly creates the penetrating narrative of his infamous, whiskey distilling and distributing descendants.
