Chapter 1 did not sit well with me in this story. I didn't like any of the characters and there were at least 5 of them introduced to the reader and I found them to be such moaning and negative sods. I continued to read though as often books can improve. It didn't and by chapter 4 I was...

Pubished in Brazil as "Casório", "Lucy Sullivan is getting married" should be readed for everyone who thinks being a frying-pan (and for it I mean: a pan without it's lid). This kind of people usually fells from somebody completely different from the ideal for a relationship (and usually don't recognize that the love can be closer than they could imagine!). Well... LSIGM is a book about wrongs and rights love and lovers: everything a girl wanna read when there's no more hope.

I actually could not bear to finish this book because I hated one of the characters so much.

I lied. I said Last Chance Saloon was my first Marian Keyes. I lied! This was really my first and I LOVED IT. Last chance saloon was just my second, and also favorited.

It can get a bit maudlin at times but its a great book for helping yourealize that it doesn't matter how depressed you want to get, you arent going to dig your way out of the hole. But don't let me tell you its a depressing book, there are hilarious parts in here too, and her characters are so funny and so worth the read.

I was pretty bored with the book when I first started reading it but I couldn't seem to put it down. I got pretty into it toward the middle and especially at the end. I really enjoyed it. I thought it was going to be a fun/silly read but I really enjoyed the part about her father's alcoholism, especially since it relates to my own life. I loved the ending.

I didn't like any of the characters and there were at least 5 of them introduced to the reader and I found them to be such moaning and negative sods. I continued to read though as often books can improve. It didn't and by chapter 4 I was seriously thinking of not reading anymore. But I read on and chapter 5 was a good one. At last I found myself liking it . . . but it was all downhill after that. I stopped on page 62, clearly I had enough. There was one positive thing about this book, found in chapter 5 . . . it made me laugh aloud a couple of times.

    **SPOILER**
I won't be able to give me review for this book without revealing what happens in the end so don't read on if you don't want to know the ending!

I realized going in that this book was not going to be typical chick-lit, especially since it was just over 600 pages long. This was also my first Marian Keyes read. I have to say I was highly disappointed. After getting into the story and realizing that the main character, Lucy, was a depressive, needy, doormat, I still kept reading hoping that in the end she would get with it and fall for the man she was supposed to fall for, that being her long time friend, Daniel.
Well, sufficed to say, that does happen but not in the happy ending, everything is grand way that I had hoped. I can appreciate the fact that Lucy is not immediately healed of all of her anxietys and issues with Daniel's pronouncement of his undying love for her, but she could at least accept the fact that he does love her. In the end, she refuses to marry him because she still is not quite sure if he really loves her. Give me a break! It was just too much! I wanted to throw the book across the room after staying up until 1:30am to finish it in hopes that it would at least end well.
I will definitely think twice before picking up another one of h er books.
