What would you do, when the person who helped to shape you into the person you are today is murdered and you find her gasping her last breaths? Don't forget, she tells you that your destiny is now, and you must step up to the plate because now you must carry on. This is basically what happens to Liz. She is told that now she is the leader of a bunch of supernatural beings who are fighting to make sure that the Fallen don't take over the world.
Liz fights being what she is called upon to do every step of the way. Even though she knows this will mean the end of the world as we know it, she drags her feet about gaining the knowledge she will need. Liz comes off as immature and argumentative. Plus, she has no idea what she is doing. She is just flying by the seat of her pants. However, there was enough of a story that makes me curious about the next book in the series. Perhaps by then, Liz will have figured out what she will do in war against the evil that is spreading.
