I like Dr. Weil's books. They are re-assuring and thought-provoking. This one takes a look at cases of folks who experience healing in ways that aren't accounted for by traditional medical explanations. So what does traditional medicine do with stories like these? Simply ignores them, as "anecdotal" and therefore not useful.

Weil's complaint is that Western medicine is really not about health, but is too focussed on treating disease. But the very treatments prescribed can often...
