Loved these books! I really hated to see the series end; and to end so badly at that! (Badly for the characters, I mean.) Lyra and Will really did deserve to live happily ever after. (Though I agree that Will's introduction dragged an aweful lot.) I was so glad to see "Lyra's Oxford" come out, but it was way too brief for my taste.

Wonderfully paranoid reaction to the release of the film from the Catholic League in America - boycott the film (and therefore guarantee its success, like The Da Vinci Code).

There are very less people who are able to write something interesting, even less who can develop life like characters and just a few who can create an amazing world of their own in words. Philip Pullman seems to be one of those gifted people.

In The Golden Compass, when Lee Scoresby dies, Iorek goes to him and eats him, saying it is the bear's way to honor the aeronaut. How does eating someone show respect?

I really love these books. It is really an excellent trilogy. They could be described as the epitamy of awesomeness. But thats just me. I'm curious to see how the film makers are going to interperate The Golden Compass in the upcoming movie release in December. Gee I hope the don't ruin it!

I love the style of writing. He makes everything seem to so real. And specially his description of a daemon-he describes it so well that you forget it's something fictional, you actually start believing that something like that exists, and when Lyra is separated from Pan, you can actually feel the pain!Brilliant use of quotes from 'Paradise Lost' .
