“Skeletal parts of Josh Hobbs are being placed on his father’s porch piece by piece. Josh disappeared in the woods as a teenager almost 20 years previous. His brother Oren, a former Army CID agent, has returned home after 20 years absence because the housekeeper has intimated that his father was dying. However, she just wanted him home to help solve this old case, even though Oren was one of the prime suspects. The plot is a good one, but everyone in this very small town seems to be an extreme character. There seem to be no normal people – from the incompetent sheriff to the monster librarian who was said to have murdered her husband—life in this small California town is far from what we think of as rural small town.
