- Dessa Dean: She is a almost depressed 12 or 13year old. She studies hard, although wishes she didn't have to. She is very determained to please her father.
- Daddy: He is a very hard working man. He goes up the mountain each day to hunt. You might say he is strict, but on the inside he is kind hearted and understanding.He is also very sad. But you will have figure out that.
- Dog: The dog in this book is very nice once it gets used to you. It hunts and gathers pinecones. The dog is very loyal and loving.
- Mama: I can't say much about this character, and the reason for that is that I don't know much. What I do know is that she is funny,kind,and brings back many memories.
- Jack Frost: Jack frost you might not count as a character... But if I said any more about that then I would spoil it. So I am going to say jack frost defiantly plays a large roll In this book.
- Hiawatha: Uhhh I honestly don't know why I'm writing here I have no idea whatsoever who Hiawatha is I do NOT remember it/her/him
