He soon finds himself in the middle of a murder case and is the target of some unscrupulous people who will do anything to protect themselves. I liked this book a lot more than I anticipated!”

The main guy is always likable, always out of his league, and always triumphant. An effective plot twist, even if the author cheats a bit by withholding information near the end for a big finish. Enjoyable read.”

I was skeptical about the meshing of Dick and Felix's styles; but I am so pleased. This is the best ever. Geoffrey Mason is frightened by threats, the brunt of violence, and very intimidated; but he is a charming hero. I hope they write another mystery with him as the central figure.”

Rather different, the hero was a barrister as well as an amateur jockey (nice play on 'silks').
The action built up as the story went along, such that I couldn't put it down until I had read the last 100 pages !
A good read - I can recommend it.”
