Meet Charlie, a fourteen year old girl attending a specialized Sports school in New Avalon, a place where just about everyone has a fairy. No one ever sees their fairies, but it's obvious they're there: they bring a special kind of luck to their people. Charlie has a parking fairy. She can't...

I did not enjoy this book. I'm not sure why, but it just never grabbed me. I'm going to give it to my niece to try.

I thought this book was cute, girly, and entertaining. A fun, light read about a place in which people have personal fairies--fairies for finding loose change, fairies for never getting into trouble, and fairies for making you irresistable to boys. Unfortunately for 14-year-old Charlie, she has a parking fairy...and she hates cars. Charlie would do anything to get a new fairy, but it may be more complicated than she thinks.

This book was by no means as spectacular as the reviews on the cover claimed but it was fun. It was witty, clever, and the world created in this story is quite ingenious.

Of course, I felt that the main character needed to be shaken harshly to get her head on the right way sometimes and parts were quite predictable at point but all good books need elements like that to make them good. :)

It took me quite awhile to get into this story. The made-up language was hard for me to enjoy at first and I didn't like having to guess what some words meant (Clue--the back of the book has a glossary, which I only found out about when I got to the end of the book. I wish I had known this sooner). But about halfway through the book, it became easier to read, and I enjoyed it more.

I liked the characters and I liked the setting. Charlie seemed like a normal teenager--well as normal as one can be in such a strict setting with fairies. I thought Rochelle seemed sweet (and I would love her shopping fairy!) And I just plain felt bad for Fiorenze. She seemed to have the best fairy of all, but it was really a curse. And the idea of a sports school where everything is so strict in a city where everyone believes they live in the best city in the world is intriguing yet creepy at the same time.

I enjoyed the plot of the story. The idea of almost everyone having their own personal fairy is a new one, and wouldn't that be great if it happened in real life?!?! (I would love a book reading fairy where I could fly through books).

The story was engaging enough for me to finish the book, but I won't reread it. Adequately entertaining.

I thought this was cute, even if it was really unrealistic. I didn't love the beginning of this book, because I wasn't used to the slang or the other worldly side. I liked the score list at the beginning of the chapters. I honestly thought the fairy thing was a little strange, but I got used to it, somewhat. The book wasn't my favorite. Personally, I thought she should have left herself alone after Charlie lost her fairy. She should have accepted herself without one, instead of getting a new one. While the ending was cute, I just didn't love the book. It was confusing and strange for me. For anyone who enjoys fantasy and fairies though, this would be a good choice.

This book was pretty entertaining. I've definitely read better, but I still liked this one. It makes you really want to have a fairy, which in this book, was kinda like luck. Most people had one fairy (there's a few people that don't have one) that specializes in something, like a good clothing fairy, parking fairy, boys like you fairy, good hair fairy, loose change fairy, on time fairy, know what your kids are up to fairy, never get in trouble fairy, perfect skin fairy, dogs like you fairy, don't have to sleep fairy (possibly my favorite), etc.

It's kind of like The Giver, Anthem, V for Vendetta in that it takes place in a made up city that is secluded from the rest of the world and the people who live there don't know much about the outside world except what they've been told, and strangers to the city don't understand why things are the way they are there. There's a lot of made up words that may be good for using context clues to define vocab. I was hoping that it would have a message that taught the reader to be happy with who they are and what they're given, but it doesn't. SPOILER- she ends up getting rid of her fairy and getting one she is much happier with. Of course this was after getting one that was a disaster. So the ending was a little disappointing in my opinion because she got what she wanted instead of accepting what she had.

Charlotte Adele Donna Seto Steele, aka Charlie, has a malodorous (hideous, wrong, dismal) fairy...a parking fairy! Everyone wants her for her parking-spot-finding ability. She decides to walk everywhere to get rid of her fairy. It doesn't work! When Dander Anders kidnaps her to use her fairy, it gives her fairy a powerful boost. Fairy Dung! (A cranky expletive). Fiorenze has the best fairy ever...All-boys-will-like-you fairy (or so all the girls think, but Fio hates it). Fio and Charlie decide to swap fairies, which is a doos (cool, ace, brilliant) trick in itself. Things go badly AGAIN! They both see the wrongness of each other's fairy. They need to ditch their fairies once and for all. This involves a near death experience. Will it work?

The plot sound crazy? You betcha! But, this is one clever, quirky, imaginative book. At first, I couldn't figure out what was going on, but as the story evolved, things became clearer...stellar! (superlative, splendid). Good thing there was a glossary at the end of the book for my brain to comprehend the new-fangled words of New Avalon teenagers.
