Do not approach this book thinking of Tolkien, Martin, or anyone else, for that matter. This is not a slow, political thriller, a replacement mythology, or a cheap D&D fangasm. This is fantasy as I like it--violent, vulgar, gritty, and fun. It is the Pulp Fiction of fantasy, in all its grimy glory.
