This book is a swift kick in the keister for anyone involved in creative endeavors. Or those that want to be. Or those that should be and have filled their days with excuses instead of following their muse. Steven Pressman has given a gift to those people of a strategy for identifying and overcoming what he calls Resistance (and what is usually labeled Procrastination). Read this book. Then go and do what you were created to do.

If you are interested in creative work and issues like "writer's block", this is the next two books you will read. I rushed through it so I could read it again!

I loved this book. It gets pretty flighty towards the end, IMHO, but the discussion of resistance was extremely valuable to me. I also want to point out that I had a question about the book and I e-mailed Steven, and he e-mailed me back and answered my question... the next day.

Stunning, beautifully written meditation on the dangers the artist faces daily. I wrote a lengthier post on my blog about my own version of Resistance(the cunning, shape-shifting foe of creative output) that expounds on it.

Very useful as a therapeutic guideline for struggeling artists. Especially the thoughts on Resistance are spot on.

If you've ever had a crisis of confidence or felt like your creativity has leaked away, you need this book. In no nonsense language Steven presents it like it is. You gotta do the work. Every day is a new battle. Refreshingly un-pc. Excellent!

This book changed the way I work! It also changed the way I think. Steven Pressfield has hit the nail on the head when it comes to the difference between professionals and amateurs. If you are ready to join the world of professionals....read and heed this book.

    Kudos Steven Pressfield.

I feel awful saying this, but I hated this. The author encourages the reader to write, and write often. Unfortunately, his book is total rubbish. It would have made much more sense for him to make stickers that said: "Bum Glue: Just Write!" Instead he goes on and on about "Resistence" which makes you not want to write, the "Professional" who writes, and something weird about how "Angels" give us the power to write. At least it was short.
