Michael Hastings writes about both his time reporting in Baghdad and how his girlfriend died in Baghdad doing diplomatic work. Though one doesn't doubt his love and pain after Andi's death, he writes more intensely and clearly about his reporting. It was what he lived and breathed; a Type A workaholic that scared his girlfriend. I loved it for all of this however. I was richly documented and wholly felt. I would recommend this book, for it is a very human story.
