I think I liked this book when I read it, but it probably made me dumber, in the long run.

watch the movie instead? I say rather watch the movie separately because watching the movie first and reading the book after doesn't ruin anything as the movie is only good as a stand alone. compared to the book it misses big time, plus about 95% of the material present in the book is left out so I don't think saying the movie is better is quite valid. the movie is good as a metaphor of drug abuse, writing and a 50% Burroughs biography but has little to do with the book.
