As an educator, I have read a lot of children's books because they were part of the job. This is not to say that I did not enjoy reading them. It has more to do with my personal preferences in choosing what books to read.

My reading "Memories of the Little Elephant" came from a different motivation. I picked the book up and read it because I had heard so much about it and how it was probably the first historically accurate children's book ever written. As a student of history,...
