Very fun. An interesting, realistic take on what would happen if people did just wake up one day with superpowers.

A clerk at B&N said I might like this after I told him I had enjoyed "Captain Freedom". Boy, was he wrong. This is the worst book I have ever read. I kept wanting more, but not because I cared. I never cared about any of the characters or what they were going through. I tried, but Schwartz didn't...

I really enjoyed this book up until the end. The novel aims towards a particular real-life event that shook the world a few years ago (some of the keen-eyed among you could probably figure out what event that is), but when it actually happened it was... irrelevant, and uneccessary.

I enjoyed the characterisations and watching how superpowers could effect you physically as well as emotionally and mentally. It was very thought-provoking in this way, but like I said, this was unfortunately tainted by the ending.

The cover is awesome though; I would've kept looking at it until I'd read it anyway!

I never cared about any of the characters or what they were going through. I tried, but Schwartz didn't want me to. He just threw me onto an anti-climatic rollercoaster ride of nothingness. You can read it if you want, but beware it wasn't even fun.

Flight or invisibility? The age-old question becomes more than a thought exercise for five college students in Madison, Wisconsin when each wakes the morning after a homebrew party changed forever. Later labeled the All-Stars by an incredulous community, the five discover that each has a superpower: strength, telepathy, speed, and of course, flight and invisibility. For the rest of the summer leading up to 9/11/01, the five set out to Do Good, and come to understand the true consequences of their powers as they grapple with their strengths, weaknesses, and the role of vigilantism in polite society. A clever and humorous premise are engaging, but the thoughtful unfolding of the characters, the alternating narration, and the inevitable yet tragic climax are what make this a memorable and thought provoking read.

SUMMARY: Five college juniors wake up after a night of partying, not just with hangovers, but with superpowers: Jack has gained speed in movement and metabolism, Caroline can fly, Harriet has become the invisible woman, Charlie hears what people are thinking, and Mary Beth can lift fifteen tons. They have no idea where thee powers came from or how long they will last, but decide to use them for good, not realizing all the consequences of their actions. COMMENTS: Like a comic book in novel form, both moral and entertaining.
