Excellent book...great second book in the series. I got hooked on thsi series with Dark of the Moon. I've been a fan of Virgil Flowers from the Prey series with Lucas Davenport. Virgil, or as he's known in the book, "that fucking Flowers," is a refreshing change from the hard nosed Lucas...

This is a very compelling mystery. It gets you hooked right on the first page
    and keeps you.

Excellent book...great second book in the series. I got hooked on thsi series with Dark of the Moon. I've been a fan of Virgil Flowers from the Prey series with Lucas Davenport. Virgil, or as he's known in the book, "that fucking Flowers," is a refreshing change from the hard nosed Lucas Davenport. Virgil wears his hear too long, has a different view on God and life, and has a propensity for rock band t-shirts and jeans. He also likes to fish. Country boy, hippie, ex military, cop with an extremely high success rate for cases solved. Love this character. Too bad he's fictional, I could really get into a man like this. Can hardly wait for Rough Country to see what happens next. This book brought out some of the true atrocities that occurred in Vietnam without being too graphic. I know there were worse things that went on, and it also shows that people have long memories and revenge can span decades.

The second in a series featuring the main character of Virgil Flowers. Heat Lightning is a novel that fits the bill for those who appreciate a mix of police procedures, serial killings solved through application of luck and intelligence, international intrigue, and right-wing conspiracy thwarted.

I'm in love with Lucas Davenport, and am crushin' bad on "that fucking Flowers." I'm thrilled with the new series so far. Sandford is incredibly funny, even in the darkest plots and most heinous crimes. I've read every book he's ever written, including the Kidd novels.

Excellent new series of book from John Sandford. The old favorites from the Prey series are mixed with a new main character, Virgil Flowers. Look froward to more books in this series.

9.9 - borrowed cd version from Dunlap Library

Fresh from his “spectacular” (Cleveland Plain Dealer) debut in Dark of the Moon, investigator Virgil Flowers takes on a puzzling—and most alarming—case, in the new book from the #1 bestselling author.

John Sandford’s introduction of Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigator Virgil Flowers was an immediate critical and popular success: “laser-sharp characters and a plot...

I like John Sandford. Virgil Flowers is emerging as a new 'younger Lucas Davenport' and promises to be central in many new stories.
