I bought this book thinking it would be brain candy for a light summer read and in some ways it was but I underestimated the writer who wrote a great book with believable characters and an engaging story.

Don't bother reading this book. It was awful. Self-centered characters who whine and cry throughout the book. I didn't care about their problems at all!

One of the things I enjoyed the most about this book was that two of the main characters, Janice and Margaret, were hardly likable. Janice was neurotic, obsessive, and annoying. Margaret appealed to me because she started a grassroots feminist magazine, but she was unobjective and relentless with her principles even when it pushed people away.

Nearly impossible to read his style of writing. The introduction is promising but the book fails to deliver. In all honesty, I did not finish reading so perhaps it got better. TOUGH to imagine, however, unless you like his writing style.

I did not like this much. Very frustrating. I never did like any of the characters.

I really didn't like it. I was looking fior a fun summer read and the cover looked like it was just the thing. I was wrong. Teenage slut, parent drug abuse, and more family issues than any family should have. Not fun at all!

I wish I could give this 2.5 stars. The first 380 pages were depressing, the last 20 were not. The characters were selfish, stupid, and unrealistic. I felt like EVERYTHING that could possibly go wrong, just kept piling on each character. The ending didn't seem like an ending. The only thing good about this was that it was harder to put down towards the end (not just b/c i wanted to finish, but it was getting interesting).

sad, funny, a little over-the-top but in a good way. Entertaining read.

OKay, I have to read this for the mere fact that it's the title of one of my favorite Peter Murphy songs.
