Though I had to start the book 6 times, when I finally got momentum it was worth the read.

    Depressing and over-written.

Not my favorite book. some characters, like the terrorist were too annoying while I would have liked to learn more about others. The ending was tied up too neatly and didn't alltogether make sense.

I couldn't wait to read this book and it didn't disappoint. I recommend it. Has lots of true to life situations, characters of this day and age. Dubus has dead on characterizations. You can picture them, so realistic. He easily moves from one characters portrait to another.

The best book (fictional) about 9/11 that I have read. I could not put this book down. The characters come alive and the story is tension-filled. Beautifully descriptive and disturbing, this is one of the best stories to come along in decades.

AGain Dubus holds me enthralled, and I get to know the people in the book well. The ending is great!

I did not finish reading this book. As a grandmother of preschoolers I decided I didn't want to "go there". After reading others reviews and comments I stopped about 1/4 of the way through. I did not like the direction I think this book was going to take. Comments were saying it was depressing and others said they do not like the way it ends. The writing was intriging, but I agree with others who stated author spent way too much time descriping the strip club.
