A tragically true story about how two girls' mistaken identities after a car accident change the lives of both families. Preachy at times but very interesting none the less.

If you read a lot of the media from when this actually happened, I would save yourself the time and not read the book. I mean, it wasn't bad or anything, but there wasn't any earth shattering new information that I didn't already know. Also, very heavy on the religion aspect, which is all great and fine, but just a little too much for me.

A pretty good read especially considering the situation. If you've listend to talk shows with the families, you can probably skip the book; if you love stories based on true events, a good one to read.

I heard about this when the news broke originally, and again when the book was released. The story was so improbable that I had to read the book to get the details. I found the book and the story both interesting and inspirational, and by reading it I gained respect for all involved.

Wow...what an unbelievable story...to think what the families went through for those five weeks and then afterwards....

I thought I would relate to the story since I graduated from the same school as the Van Ryn girl but the story was written so poorly that I couldn't get past that aspect. Who was the writer talking about most of the time? Was it Laura or Whitney? Which family went through what? Find God, that's the point...right. THAT story has been written a hundred times.

When I first read this book, I thought it was a wonderful story of Christian hope and love. The more I have thought about it, however, the more questions I have about the story.

How could two families make such mistakes? Where are the questions I have to believe at least one person would have asked about why God would allow this to happen? Where are the emotions of anger, especially when the family that took care of the person they believed to be their daughter turns out not to be? Didn't they have any guilt about not realizing the girl wasn't their's? How can you not recognize your own duaghter? Did the hope that this girl was their own cloud their minds so completely?

There are too many unanswered questions here. The book is an interesting read, if you turn your mind off to questions.

This was a very good book. It was so wonderful that two families with such tragedy between them relied on God, solely. That is what you do when you have no where to turn. Thank God we have God!
The families shared what really was going on in their hearts.

This is a fascinating story, but the book would have been better at half or a third the length. There was far more information than I needed to know, although I suppose those who followed events at the might be interested. The writing isn't bad and includes many quotes from the blog that family members kept at the time. The families are careful not to point blame at anyone for the mix-up and very little is said about the truck driver who caused it except to express forgiveness. The intended audience is primarily religious and won't mind the preachiness that is integral to the story they wanted to tell.
