I enjoy the "Scaredy Squirrel" stories not only because they are hilarious and well-written and thus great fodder for read-alouds, but Watt has a fantastic method for teaching organization and lists.

Scaredy Squirrel is looking for some relaxing time at the beach, but the real thing is just too crowded. So Scaredy makes his own beach at home... only to discover he's missing the sounds of the ocean. He must face his oceanside fears to collect a shiny, germ-free shell that sounds like the ocean!

    Classroom Uses:
    - Book could be used to teach writing organization (ex: lists).
    - Book could be an introduction for a squirrel unit of study.

    Books to Connect:
    - Scaredy Squirrel
    - Scaredy Squirrel at Night
    - Scaredy Squirrel has a Birthday Party

Great end-of-the-year book for kindergarteners, especially since we study the ocean as our last unit.

Scaredy Squirrel is back and this time his phobias are centered around a trip to the beach. Very creative all the different lists and plans he employs to complete his mission of getting a seashell.

    Funny, engaging illustrations.
