An epic description of the experience of battle through the ages and in the present - full of empathy and revelation.

I read portions of this book while in college, and have wanted to read the entire book for some time now. Keegan, a well respected historian, narrates an in depth analysis of the battles of Agincourt, Waterloo, and The Somme. A classic work of military history.

Had to read this book for a course. Very sobering survey of war as a part of human experience.

An extremely interesting look at what happens on the level of an individual soldier during a battle, using as case studies Agincort, Waterloo, and the Somme. Keegan gives lots of interesting insights and draws some thought-provoking conclusions.

A landmark study of 3 major battles (Agincourt, Waterloo & The Somme); Keegan dispells the myths and goes beyond classical battle reports.

This book was very interesting, Keegan takes different well known battles that happened in the same place and analyzes how the strategies have changed.
