Ridiculously Simplified Synopsis

Cast of Characters/Important People

  • Mirasol: Formerly a beekeeper with a small woodright in the demesne called Willowlands, she has recently been chosen to be the new Chalice.
  • The Master (Liapnir/Azungbai): The younger brother of the last Master who died unexpectedly without heir, he was sent away from Willowlands seven years ago to become a Priest of Fire -- a role no one has ever come back from before.
  • The Grand Seneschal (Nicandimon): Third in the Circle of Willowlands; he is responsible for calling the Master back from the Fire and finding Mirasol to be Chalice.
  • Deager: The Overlord's agent to the Willowlands.
  • Horuld: An outblood man chosen to be the Master's heir by the Overlord.
  • Clearseer: Youngest and lowest member of the Circle of the Willowlands.
  • Selim: One of Mirasol's friends before she became Chalice
  • Kenti: A woman who comes to Mirasol for help with her daughter's burnt arm.
  • Catu: A healer.
  • The Overlord: Superior to all the Masters of the land.

First Sentence

Because she was Chalice she stood at the front door with the Grand Seneschal, the Overlord's agent and the Prelate, all of whom were carefully ignoring her.
