A great no holds barred telling of Hunter S. Thomposn; the good the bad and the ugly. A real eye opener.

Definitely Beautiful. :) The man was a goddamn saint and visionary. It is a poorer place without him.

    REVEALING
This is a very good, wide-ranging biography with a multitude of disparate sources. In fact, Mr. Steadman is rarely quoted. Some of those other folk include Ed Bradley (60 Minutes), Jack Nicholson, Don Johnson, and an assortment of neighbours, former colleagues and assistants. All shed light on the man and his personae.

I won't go into any more detail other than to say that this is a worthwhile read and that while you may experience any number of emotions, disappointment will not be one of them.

This book is as good as an oral biography could be.... You cannot really say an oral biography is bad. Just quotes from people who knew the good dark. some had funny stories...some had bad....i recomend this book if you are really interested in the dr. of journalism.

I've always liked Thompson's book "Fear and Loathing" books and the Hell's Angels book, also, and often wondered about what his life was *really* like. This oral biography by his friends and family delves into his private life and portrays a brilliant, conflicted, and very complex person, who had many faults but whose personality and mind could overshadow everything. And yes, he was as wild in real life as in the books.

Collection of statements made by people close to Hunter at different times in his life. Very interesting. So far I've only read a little into his teenage years, but I can't imagine it will suddenly stop being good so I say read this book if you are a fan of Thompson.
