“Loved it! Very good writing, intense and suspenseful and leaves you lunging for the sequel. The violence of the Hunger Games (a sort of twisted Olympics in which teenagers hunt and kill each other) is not gratuitous and the author paces the story nicely. For older teens and adults.”

Well written book that pulls you in from the first chapter and leaves you "hungry" for more at the end. A young girl lives in a socialistic society that starves their people and keeps them in fear. To keep her family barely alive she hunts illegally outside the fence which helps her in the hunger games. The Hunger Games are a sick twisted reminder that from the Capitol not to ever revult again. Each child between 12-18 has their name in a lottery and a boy and girl from each district are sent to an arena of death with only one victor. It is a slow building romance that is unrequited by her because unless it can feed you, Katniss doesn't have a need for it. Including love. Even by the end she still questions loves purpose but can't deny it's a possibility.”

Futuristic, unsettlling, struggle between good and evil. The main charater, Katmiss Everdeen, is honorable and likeable ”

I read it because my 13-year-old grandson said the book and the sequel were the best books he had ever read. It was a quick read and a way to keep up with what my grandson is reading.”

The narrator is an actress who's appeared on episodes of Law & Order and her name is totally escaping me right now. But she does separate voices for all the characters so it makes it really easy to follow along. I find that, even though I already know how the story ends, I hate when it's time to turn off my car because I just want to keep listening! ”
